
biscuits would taste really good in this kitchen
I am up with the roosters this morning and decided it is the perfect opportunity to make homemade buttermilk biscuits.
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup organic shortening
1/2 cup buttermilk
melted butter
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Sift all dry ingredients together. With your fingers, mix shortening into the dry ingredients until it is a coarse mixture. Stir in buttermilk. On a floured surface, knead 2-3 times and roll out. Cut out biscuits. Place into a greased cast iron skillet and brush with melted butter.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or golden on top.
